Requesting Support − Sponsorships, Grants & Donations
Eligibility & Focus Areas
Support is available to Canadian organizations and beneficiaries whose initiatives align to one or more of the following goals:
Advancing patient health
Programs aligned to our therapeutic areas that increase disease awareness, improve health literacy, and empower patients to better manage their health.
Increasing access to care
Initiatives that improve healthcare delivery and access to medication for underserved patients and communities.
Driving science innovation
Support for STEM education and development to build the next generation of scientists and problem solvers.
Building resilient communities
Disease prevention and public health programs, as well as environmental projects that strengthen communities and health systems.

Types of Support
AstraZeneca aims to support eligible organizations and initiatives that advance patient health, increase access to care, drive science innovation, and build resilient communities through three (3) primary types of funding:
Sponsorships
Support for independent scientific, medical, or healthcare events (e.g., conferences, congresses, symposia) in exchange for a benefit (e.g. booth or floor space, prominent logo placement etc.) to AstraZeneca.
Grants
Support independent, legitimate scientific, medical, or healthcare educational initiatives and activities that improve patient care. AstraZeneca is not involved and does not receive a benefit.
Community Investments / Donations
Support the general mission/fundraising event of registered Canadian not-for-profits or charities involved in healthcare, community initiatives, or other philanthropic activities.
Community Investments / Donations (Pre and Post Funding Requirements)
Every request received will be evaluated for alignment with AstraZeneca’s funding policy, recipient eligibility and adherence to business principles including compliance with both Innovative Medicines Canada (IMC) code and Health Canada Guidance on distinction between advertising and other activities for health products.
AstraZeneca DOES NOT provide External Funding for:
- Activities already performed or events that have passed.
- Requests from anyone other than an official representative of the requesting organization.
- HCPs to attend a third-party conference or congress.
- Externally Sponsored Scientific Research (ESR). For more information on ESR refer to: Externally Sponsored Scientific Research.
- Lobbying by the recipient organization for narrow/specific interests.
- Routine or day‑to‑day operating costs of an organization.
- Organizations operating outside of Canada or whose beneficiaries are outside Canada.
- Individual healthcare professionals, HCP corporations, medical group practices/clinics, or public officials.
- Initiatives that directly involve the use of an AstraZeneca product, including any incentive for the purchase, use, or recommendation of an AZ product.
- Community Investments / Donations to Hospitals or Hospital Foundations
