Local Community Support
We define our local communities as the places where we have major facilities and many of our employees live and work: Mississauga, Ontario and St. Laurent, Quebec. These places are special to us because we make our homes here and we have neighbours we care about.
For this reason, we devote a portion of our community investment to initiatives that make our communities better places to raise our families, connect with our friends and work with our colleagues.
Our local community support is focused on three areas:
- Our annual United Way/Centraide campaigns
- Local health-related initiatives
- Other innovative programs that contribute to improving our communities

AstraZeneca and United Way/Centraide
Local United Way/Centraide organizations provide vital funds to grassroots
organizations that help address the needs of vulnerable segments of our society. We are proud to be among the leading corporate supporters of the United Way of Peel Region. In 2001, we donated $120,000, while our Mississauga employees generously gave more than $46,000. In Montreal, AstraZeneca provided $20,000 to the Centraide campaign and our
Montréal employees raised more than $19,000. All of these funds help United Way/Centraide strengthen the fabric of our local communities.
